Re: Bàrbara Forés Coma d’En Pou
Ver mensaje de Paco HigónThanks, Paco. Can you confirm the role of Josep-Lluís Pérez (of Priorat’s Mas Martinet) at Bàrbara Forés? Is he the winemaker? Consulting winemaker? If true, an interesting connection that I only heard about recently.
Re: Bàrbara Forés Coma d’En Pou
Ver mensaje de WaltZalenskiWell, at the beginning of this winery Barbara Forés’ wines were made by Mª Carme Ferrer with the assistance of Josep Lluís Pérez... but I believe that not anymore... I’ll ask Jose Lluis next week to confirm my impressions.
Re: Bàrbara Forés and J.L. Perez
Ver mensaje de Paco HigónYes, I think the role of Josep Lluis was related basically with vineyard design (what kind of new grapes plant and so on).
Manuel Sanmartín and Carme are very sensible winemakers and are doing some of the finest Terra Alta wines right now. Have you tried their interesting white garnacha wines?
Re: Bàrbara Forés and J.L. Perez
Ver mensaje de Juan SuchThanks Juan and Paco.
I’ve tried and liked the Barbara Fores ";Blanc"; - (85% Garnacha Blanca - 15% Viognier) and the ";El Quinta"; - (100% Garnacha Blanc). Are these the Garnacha wines you are referring to?
Barbara Forés whites
Ver mensaje de WaltZalenskiYes. What do you think about them? Have you found too oaky these wines?
The main problem I have found in these garnacha whites from Terra Alta, Montsant and Priorat is their lack of integration of fruit with oak and their low acidy.
Re: Barbara Forés whites
Ver mensaje de Juan SuchHonestly, I don’t drink enough white wine to answer very well. I had both these wine at tastings on more than one occasion. I have a very distinct recollection of one of the wines having manifestations of oak that to me was exactly like the spice, nutmeg. Obviously this is not what everyone wants from a white wine, but I thought it was interesting and unique. I also thought that, if I put my mind to it (which I have not), I could try to come up with a very interesting food pairing for the wine.
Re: Barbara Forés whites
Ver mensaje de WaltZalenskiWell IMHO El Quintà is one of the best white wines from Terra Alta, however, I must confess, I don’t mind finding some soft oaky touches in this kind of wines....
