Ver mensaje de GastronautaTokaj Disznoko 5* 1993
Just one word. ";BUY";. Found it at 28€. 94
Tokaj Oremus 6* 1981
Give it a good deal of air and enjoy. The traditional marmaladiness has receded significantly in these 23 years and now it’s more like butterscotch. Gorgeous sweetness balanced by sufficient acidity and complexity. Still, it should have been consumed a couple of years ago. But then I didn’t know where to find this for 20€ ;^) 90
Viña Mein fermentado en tino 2001
Deeper than your average Ribeiro. A good buy for 10€, but nothing to write home about. 88
Manzanilla San Leon
Decidedly my style. I wonder what the others are for. 92
Dr. Loosen W-S Spätlese 2002
I put my foot in when I decided this might be double-decanted (a recent experience with Selbach-Oster B-B Spätlese 2002 proved misleading). This has all the telltale flabbiness of the 2002 vintage. Yes, excellent ripeness; no, not the structure of the 2001.
My mistake. Fresh from the bottle it might have added more enjoyment. As it was there was an evident lack of acid structure even chilled below my ususal riesling temp. One to learn.
Aalto PS 1999 vs. 2000
Keep the 99s for a few years. Enjoy infanticiding the 2000 or lay, at your discretion. The 00 was superior in any case.
Silvano García Monastrell Dulce 2001
Almost as good as my legendary experiences with Olivares. Nice price. Hard to find. 88
Coma Blanca 2001
EXCELLENT white Priorat, a tad expensive for the style/region but surely one of my best and most convincing examples. Superb aromatic profile, with white fruit, white petals, smoky notes, and a perfect performance in the palate. Might thank a little extra focus, and will age effortlessly another year at least. 91

Re: Disznoko
Ver mensaje de NorjeThanks, Norje, there is a serious problem in Spain with the 1993s of Disznoko. I bought the first one I saw, and there was only another available. PM me if you want to know the shop location.
To begin with, here Tokaj has suffered the Vega Sicilia connection and now some of the prices just don’t make sense. If initially it was a wine for the few who appreciated it, now it is ’glamorous’.
1993 is possibly the best vintage available out there. Watch for the 99s too, but those certainly need some bottle time.
The 93s were around for quite a while, but now you find lots of 95s in ECI. The ggod news is that the new Oremus vintage (’99) is already for sale.
Another problem is storage. Tokaj is lined up with sweet and fortified wines and retailers seem to think it will resist like a PX, which is not the case. Transparent bottles do not help to keep the light away, but at least they show the color of the wine, a minor consolation in case it is too evolved...

Ver mensaje de GastronautaAgreement on Disznoko 1993. But I drunk at home the SIX puttonyos and it was just great (and a baby): https://www.verema.com/comunidad/vinoscatados/vino.asp?vino=1281
Tokaj Oremus 6* 1981 didn`t impressed me so much (specially remembering that Disznoko).
Agreement on Manzanilla San Leon too. Probably the best commercial manzanilla I have drunk. Of course, manzanilla ";en rama"; (unfiltered) are on another league...

Parker was recently more generous with this one - 93 points. I like this one. I also like the Silvano García 2001 Vina Honda Allier Finese for a good QPR.
Olivares never made it above 92, I believe...
Ver mensaje de WaltZalenskiI found this one less bright in acidity (and wouldn’t keep it over a year or two) than my best Olivares (96, 98) at their best. Hedonistic it sure is, and I love sugar, but perhaps a tad cloying in the finish for non-perverts (hence my concession to an under 90 rating). I loved it but 93 would demand a 115 rating scale... ;^)
Elegy for San León...?
