Sounds really great, I’ll try to come. I’m a great fan of Spanish wine (live 3 years in Spain) but few of my friends share the vice. I live in Potomac and would like to affiliate with a tasting group that doesn’t want to revisit Bordeaux every other week! Could you be of any help? My E-Mail in Niloc36@comcast.net

Re: Come to Washington DC. Drink Spanish WIne.
Ver mensaje de Paco HigónI’ve met the 2 Victorias before and Mariano & sons. I don’t know who will represent Can Rafols. I think that, in a few cases, the wines will be there without a representative from the bodega.
Speaking about Dos Victorias, do you know anything about this big wine award they won, perhaps in Germany? I’ve heard rumors about this but do not know the whole story yet.

Ver mensaje de colinwinstonColin,
Let’s plan on meeting at this event, if not before. Our ad hock tasting group focusses on Spanish wine, although the opportunities we have to get all our schedules together is increasingly rare.
Re: Come to Washington DC. Drink Spanish WIne.
Ver mensaje de WaltZalenskiThey’ve won the prize of the German magazine ";Wein Gourmet"; as the Best Revelation Winery for 2004. The ceremony was held on 5 March at Bensberg Castle near Cologne.
In prior years Alvaro Palacios & Peter Sisseck were finalists for this prizes.
The rest of the prizes were:
- ";Gourmet of the year";: Royal Prince Henrik of Denmark
- ";Best wine of the year";: Bernd Philippi’s Riesling (Germany)
- ";Oenologyst of the year";: Jean-Luc Colombo(France)
- ";Life devoted to wine";: Paul Draper (California)
- ";excellence in quality";: In memoriam Georg Breuer (Germany)
Cheers
Victory for Dos Victorias
Ver mensaje de Paco HigónThanks Paco. Those are quite impressive names to have surpassed.
It this award well known in Europe? Is this what some people call the wine ";Oscars?";
Re: Victory for Dos Victorias
Ver mensaje de WaltZalenskiYep, these are the so-called Wine Oscars and they are well known, especially in the Germany area of influence.
