I get no kick from Cha...rdonnay
Ver mensaje de Gastronauta(Which of course means roughly I’m not into Burgundy) but really I was extremely dissatisfied with the performance of the different ";top"; Spanish Chards offered at the Salón on Wednesday.
For all its fame the Chivite was at best a high 80s bottle of heavy (though not for American standards) fruitless stuff. Not much cheaper was the Milmanda (which I used to like) with only a marginally better nose.
Finally my favorite was the lighter Enate fb, at about half the price of either of the former, though merely a shadow of the excellent 97.
I definitely don’t ’get’ home Chardonnay...
My only recent wow came from Petrea (2000 or 2001) and no one could say it wasn’t heavy, only it vividly reminded me of a white Priorat; as for typicity I’d be at a total loss (maybe that’s what I liked in it)...Before that Enrique Mendoza (also the barrel fermented version) was good but totally Californian in its sweet toastiness...
Good Riesling weather, BTW... ;^)

Ver mensaje de GastronautaWhat I can’t take is the sweet toastiness!
