A restaurant in London?
A restaurant in London?
Ver mensaje de MaJesusI’m trying to locate aparently the impossible: a real nice restaurant not too far from downtown London (a short cab ride is fine), which is pretty, and has good food and wine. I would not like it too pompous (but certainly nice) and yes, I know it will be expensive (but I am NOT looking for the super-top). I had found the following:
Lundums (this seems a bit too far from University College, but if it is great we could contemplate it)
The Ledbury
Roussillon
Does anyone know of any of them? any other possibilities? (Italian, moderately modern British, or almost any other)
Thanks!!!! (and good night!)
MaJesus

Ver mensaje de MaJesusWell,
not sure on prices but here are some options (check out menus etc on web ?)
a good rule is that set lunches at the expensive places are good value.
A guy on a uk bulletin board was raving recently about
1880 Restaurant, The Bentley Kempinski, Harrington Gardens, Gloucester Rd.
A sommellier menu costs £80 but it consists of eight courses and some great wine.
The Providores 109 Marylebone High st.
A fusion type place that serves tapas style/sized portions downstairs and ";propper"; meals upstairs.
This street has some lovely shops and is very nice for browsing. There is a Paul’s with lovely bread and pastries.
Lyndsey House 21 Romily st soho- very good food (cheaper at lunch)
Club Gascon - Smithfield Market. speciality Foie Gras and wines from south of France.
Afternoon Tea in Fortnum and Mason ?
The Portrait Restaurant in the National Portrait Gallery in Trafalgar Sq.
Nice food great views (ask for a table by the window) average wine list.
Borough Market is lovely to browse around and have a pint in The Market Porter.
also best coffee in London in thr Monmouth Coffee Co. between this pub and the market. Also this is right beside Vinopolis if you want to visit it ?
There’s a branch of Majestic (a wine chain) here where you can buy by the single bottle (normally its a case minimum)
if you want anything else let me know but I’m in Africa from 26th to July 6th
have fun !!
