’The gentle breeze of the summer...
Ver mensaje de joseWhisper us the coming winter’ or something like this I read many years ago in a nice bar in Edimburgh... Simply, autumn is right here, red wine consumption rise again in my home :-) What about you?
Last weekend I began with a Cillar de Silos 2003. 14.1 % alcohol scares me from the label. It was not as horrible as I thought. Red fruit, a touch of balsamic and of course alcohol :-/ Anyhow it was better with food. I ate a dish of ";callos’, a typical dish from Madrid, I think that the translation is something like ’tripe stew’. No worries, and no ";arghs";, it tastes better than it sounds ;)
Cheers,
Jose
Re: ’The gentle breeze of the summer...
Ver mensaje de joseNice message Jose.... the ’callos’, oh well, something similar but I think it is not exactly the same, is called ’cap i pota’ in Catalunya... it does match really well with such a powerful, deep and strong red wines.... the time has come for strong reds...
But don’t forget the sweet ones for Nov 1st!
Salut!
Joan
Re: ’The gentle breeze of the summer...
Ver mensaje de joseTime for reds ?...well time to stop chilling them I suppose !
Arf... the last years in Spain...
Ver mensaje de rayol(Madrid for me) have been extremely hot, so neither with chilled reds I was in the mood for them... Only white ones, cold beers and tons of iced water... :-/
cheers,
Jose
We’re still in summer ;-)
Ver mensaje de joseThe temperatures in Valencia are about 24ºC so we’re still in the white wines season... however, from time to time, we make an effort to finish with one of our dense, Mediterranean, red wine.... ;-)
Re: Arf... the last years in Spain...
Ver mensaje de joseYessss, Madrid in summer, time for whites and beer. I’m now in the UK, with 15ºC, so like Jose I went back to the reds.
I’m staying in Oxford in a college, where we have a nice selection of aged wines at not very high prices (95-96 for prices arround 7-9 pounds, ok not 1er crus, but some of them are really nice)
