Just opened, this wine has an expressive nose. Intense and refined, with vegetable notes which disappear with further airing. The accent then shifts on to the mineral notes, balsam and the Mediterranean herbs (which, as with the noble wood, evolve more as the temperature rises), which gives it a surprising Mediterranean character. It also reminds me of a few good Tódanos which I have had. The mouth shows high-quality mature tannins, with a good balance between the ripe fruit, the wood and the acidity, which gives it the freshness that makes it easily drunk. A long and persistent aftertaste in which the mineral character reappears. A great wine, balanced and subtle, easily drunk and replete. At Christmas, it will be a very exciting wine.
