Nice ruby-garnet color, with some transparency, which is rare in this much-vaunted vintage. With the bottle just opened, it smells fruity and fresh. But a half hour of air makes the aromas tighten up. Blackberry, plum, cassis, earth, cocoa and dried rosemary. There’s a certain dustiness to the whole aromatic package… In the mouth it’s chunky and rather rustic, but tasty. Very chewy tannins and—surprise, surprise!—some very nice acidity going on. Good length and balance. This will drink well mid-term and continues the conssitent trajectory of this house.
