A very olivey nose, with a subtext of raw meat, nutmeg, red licorice and a strong element of black cherry. It’s relatively shy, considering the outright showiness of previous vintages of this wine, but it says enough to make me smile. Fleshy and smooth in the mouth. Some may say this lacks vigor, but I find it elegant in its soft-spokenness. A nice drink right now, but it will improve over the next few years. Medium length, spicy and full of red fruit. The tannins are almost suspiciously silky.
