I brought this 8% German Riesling from my cellar. Shock and horror! I had bought a mixed case of 1995’s on release and not touched a single bottle until a few weeks ago at the Wade Hostler offline. I had no idea what this would taste like or the residual sugar level, but I had bought based on the wine merchants descriptions on paper and to me over the phone. This would be an interesting wine to try.
Light yellow with a hint of green at the rim. A nose of flint, freshly cut green apples with a hint of grapefruit and a hint of unleaded fuel. The soft palate feel showed some spritz which I am still not quite finding attractive. Off-dry initially, the mid palate is all pear and quince and it leads to a very nice dry finish. Ok, I admit it – I liked this wine.
