This 100% Sangiovese wine was double decanted just before drinking and the label showed 13%. Bright cherry red with a pale pink rim. Some saddle leather, earthiness, hints of medicinal fruits in the depth of the nose. Initial sips reveal a medium bodied wine with silky red fruits and a noticeable core of acidity. With air, the palate takes on more takes on more body and the length of the finish increases. Ripe tannins, still well hidden underneath the restrained fruit, slightly dry my tongue and cheeks. This wine needs more bottle age to show off its charms and I look forward to returning to it in 1-2 years time.
