This wine from a pristine bottle was surprisingly youthful and showed no sign of flagging. It was much more lively than a 1968 Ygay that I had not long ago. Indeed, the 1970 benefitted from ever increasing amounts of air. The aroma features bass notes of milk, carob, lanolin, and powdered chocolate with mid-range of strawberry and high pitched notes of cinnamon and pine. The palate prominently features a brace of acidity, but paired with food (in this case wild boar and veal cheeks), the acidity is tamed and the taste profile, while not as complex as the nose, is unquestionably graceful.
