In fact, there are some restaurants that I have been to where Ribera del Dueros are rare, Priorats are not offered at all, and the selection of 20 Riojas are all second-rate. This situation seems to be improving, however.

The number of times I go into a tapas bar in Spain and my heart sinks as I see the typical Riojas and Riberas ";de turno";, when it would be so easy to find a much better wine from another area at the same price. What a waste!
