Re: Tares/ mendoza
Ver mensaje de MaJesusI have no problem releasing names: I think that a negative comment is even more informative than a positive one, the problem is that I can not remember the Madrid name. The restaurant was one in Valencia (Il Ritrovo, a very nice Italian restaurant, with nice prices and very good wine service, so specially good for wine-crazies ... alas, we took their last bottle ;)) ). The wine place in madrid is one quite popular in the spanish verema side, a very very very good place, with excellent imaginative tapas and very nice wines, served by the glass if you want to, with usually nice prices ... except for the EM shyraz ... I think the name was ";Entrevinos";, but the shiraz was really a unique case, no at all representative of the prices of the rest of wines, which were very good. In fact I enthusiastically reccomend this place for an informal dinner
Now about the wine ... it IS released indeed, and for a very short time (during which I am always in the States) you can see it in Lavinia, and few other places (curiously enough, I could find it way easier in Barcelona than in Valencia). In Valencia I only know of one store that openly displays it (or at least used to): mantequerias Castillo ... many others have it, but they do not display it. However, if you are a nice client and inquire about it, maybe they will sell you a botle ... it’s that difficult!!
cheers,
Majesus
Re: Tares/ mendoza
Ver mensaje de MaJesusThanks for all that info.
Valencia seems increasingly to be a good place for some wine hunting. Maybe it’s time to get on a plane !
I agree that balanced criticism is essential. There is simply not enough of it. In all these debates about Robert Parker my only criticism is his lack of criticism of winemakers/merchants who do precisely the opposite of Sr. Mendoza.
(but please lets not start a thread on that !!)
saludo

Ver mensaje de MaJesusThe only bottle I’ve ever had of the EM Shiraz was bought at Vinos Calidad in Málaga. I imagine they stock others too.
God... there go my chamnces of ever drinking it again... dammit!
