It was interesting to put this wine next to the 1988 La Chapelle. The optic was a dark strawberry red with a pink rim. The nose was noticeably more focused than the ’88 La Chapelle, with significantly more red fruits. Sweet red cherry and plum, well integrated tannins with balanced acidity, I found this highly enjoyable. No rush to drink it either.
