Double decanted 30 minutes before drinking, 14% alcohol on the label. Made from old vine shiraz fruit (roughly 80-100 years old), I first started drinking this wine from the 1992 vintage. Dark cherry red, almost opaque. At first the nose was shy, only revealing hints of mint, fruit and American oak. With time in the glass, all of these attributes are amplified. A slick few seconds on the palate give way to a core of young red fruits with refreshing acidity. The finish is long, simple and the refreshing acidity is a positive attribute. There are some mouth drying tannins that linger after the wine is swallowed. This wine can certainly be drunk now, although a few years in the cellar will do it no harm.
