This came from my cellar as I thought it would be a good foil to the 1999 Koonsgaard. I have been a fan of Bernard Michelot’s Mersault’s since drinking them from the stunning 1992 vintage. I remember my senses being tantalised for the first time by the flamboyant yet balanced old world Chardonnay aged in New French oak. Double decanted briefly about two hours before we drank it. Light lemon, the nose was a sparky lemon with toasty oak that was not out of place. The minerals showed impressively and the long balanced length managed to hold a delightful freshness to it. This was impressive and unfortunately I don’t own enough of them.
