Having returned last night from Portugal, I felt the urge to try a red wine from my cellar. Venturing into the cellar, this bottle caught my eye. This is the top cuvee from the domaine, made up of mostly Cabernet Sauvignon and some Syrah. Double decanted 30 minutes ahead of time. Dark cherry red, a pale hint of pink at the rim. A strong whiff of green pepper and dry earth. The palate reminded me of bitter cherries and sour raspberries, with noticeable and drying tannins, and with a fairly long length. This wine appears to me to be still fairly shut for business. 83/100. Drank with the traditional Greek dish of moussaka in celebration of Greece’s win over Portugal in the European Football Championship last Sunday.
