The wine has a nice opaque violet black cherry colour.
The nose is complex, intense, with hints of coffee, spice, dairy notes and a little fruit (in the finish and once it has been in the glass for a while - does the wine need a lot of airing?). In the mouth, the wine is balanced, silky, pleasant (surprising in a 2000 with this ageing) and long. The retronasal is intense, perhaps with a predominance of the toast.
